NOX TEAM BEATS GUINNESS WORLD RECORD FOR LONGEST BEACH TENNIS MATCH IN HISTORY
Antomi Ramos Viera, Beatriz Bilbao Areito, Ruth Mendoza Mendoza and Carlos Ruíz Alonso managed to beat a world record by playing a beach tennis match for 24 hours continuously
On Saturday 4 September the attempt aiming to take Beach Tennis to a world record ended successfully. On this occasion, the team members Antomi Ramos Viera, Beatriz Bilbao Areito, Ruth Mendoza Mendoza and Carlos Ruíz Alonso played a match lasting 24 hours, 1 minute and 58 seconds continuously at Club Beach Arena in Valencia. The adventure began on Friday 3 September at 12:00 and ended the following day at the same time.
A clear example of how where there’s a will there’s a way. This project arose a year ago when the players noticed that nobody in the history of beach tennis had aimed to beat the record. And how they achieved it! “They called us crazy, but they always supported the madness” says Beatriz Bilbao, the Madrid champion of beach tennis.
Since last weekend, the team members can state that they were the first beach tennis players to achieve the feat for this sport by spending a little more than 24 hours, playing a match with 64 sets.
To achieve it, the team had to meet the following requirements; play a minimum of 24 hours continuously based on the rules and regulations of the ITF (International Tennis Federation) and the corresponding bodies and institutions. They were permitted to stop for five minutes for every hour played in order to hydrate and recover energy.
The support and enthusiasm of the sponsors was decisive to successfully completing the proposed challenge. Likewise, the team had an entourage of professionals formed by a psychologist-coach, Hector Valverde Rondón; and a fitness trainer and physiotherapist, Alba Balandín Garcinuño. As well as the support shown by friends and family members which did not go unnoticed.
This group of sportspeople has made what they considered possible a reality when many thought it was impossible. A clear example of effort and personal overcoming. At Nox we are proud to have been part of this adventure as the technical sponsors of: clothing, balls, rackets and accessories. From the very first minute we believed and had complete confidence in the skills and abilities of the team. We all hope that, through actions like this one, this sport which has so much potential can be promoted and spread.
Our most sincere congratulations, you have made history.
